Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmad is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology, University of Kashmir, India. He is a fish nutritionist and aquaculture biotechnologist whose research focuses on fish nutrition, nutrigenomics, aquaculture health and nanotechnology applications in fisheries. He obtained his Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Kashmir and has extensive research experience as a Senior Researcher at SKUAST-K and University of Kashmir, where he worked on genetic improvement and nutritional requirements of rainbow trout. His work integrates nutritional physiology, molecular biology and omics approaches to understand diet-gene interactions and improve growth, health and stress resilience in cultured fish species. He has published over 60 research papers in reputed international journals, authored several books and book chapters and serves on the editorial boards of journals such as PLOS ONE and Frontiers in Nutrition. His current research emphasizes the development of functional aquafeeds using bioactive compounds and nanoparticles, nano-enabled nutrient delivery systems and sustainable strategies to enhance aquaculture productivity and food security.
